Flexible feeding with 3D detection
The new robot cell ml64GIK ensures flexible feeding of most diverse part geometries from various goods carriers. Thus, new developments in the context of object position recognition, gripping point calculation and gripping techniques as well as the precise placement of subsequent processes are available, and many applications can be automated economically.
HBi Robotics bin picking installations can continually pick chaotically placed parts from a transport package as for example a pallet cage or pallet collar and can equip the corresponding subsequent processes at a technical availability of more than 95%. The highly flexible system “bin picking – reliable” was developed by using a special software and the communication server. Standard six-axis robots, a standard industrial PC and an image processing system with FireWire interface are employed.
The new robot cell ml64GIK is designed for the flexible feeding of most varied part geometries from various goods carriers. The robot cell can incorporate goods carriers of the format 600 x 400 mm in two drawers. If one goods carrier is processed, the robot can pick from the second goods carrier. In the meantime, the operating personnel can remove the empty goods carrier and insert a new one.

Flexible feeding technology with 2D recognition
HBi Robotics has been installing the reliable two-dimensional parts recognition, for example on a conveyor, for some years now – in this period the feeding technology has proved of value. The camera takes a picture automatically on which those parts are recognised which are in an optimum position. Subsequently, the gripper can pick the part.

Superfast and flexible feeding technology with 2D recognition
Further development of HBi Robotics’ flexible feeding technology: the two-dimensional recognition of the parts, for example on a conveyor belt, allows for superfast and flexible feeding now. The camera takes a picture automatically on which the parts in optimum position can be identified. Then the gripper can pick the part. Up to 480 parts can be recognised on the conveyor and be picked by the machine. Then, the robot arm drops the parts in the right order for the processing machine.
